A Two-Phase Whole-Home Transformation in McCormick Ranch
Kitchens by Good Guys transformed this McCormick Ranch home in two thoughtful phases, opening up a once-compartmentalized layout and creating a more polished, livable flow throughout. The project began with two upstairs bathroom remodels, then expanded into a main-level transformation that included the kitchen, powder room, laundry room, new flooring, and key structural wall revisions.
By reworking key walls and carrying a warm, contemporary palette throughout the home, our team gave each space a cleaner look and a stronger connection to the rooms around it.
PROJECT SPOTLIGHT
Style: Warm contemporary
Scope: Whole-home remodel, including kitchen, two upstairs bathrooms, powder room, laundry room, main-level wood flooring, and structural wall reconfiguration
Timeline: Six months of construction
Standout Features: Structural wall revisions, oversized island with seating, waterfall-style countertop, pop-up island outlet, dedicated bar area, decorative glass cabinetry, freestanding tub, custom shower glass, enlarged powder room, and green tile laundry backsplash.

Phase One: Upstairs Bathrooms with a Calm, Elevated Feel
Phase one focused on two upstairs bathrooms, each designed with clean lines, warm wood tones, and elevated materials. Marble-look surfaces, custom shower glass, updated fixtures, and soft neutral finishes gave the bathrooms a cleaner, more relaxing feel.
One bathroom features a freestanding tub, a glass shower enclosure, and textured tile detailing.
Phase Two: Opening Up the Main Level
The homeowner wanted the kitchen, dining, and living spaces to feel more connected. Before the remodel, walls divided the main level and limited the home's openness. We revised key walls near the kitchen and garage entry, opening the layout while also creating space for a larger powder room.
Since the home has a second story, opening the main level meant more than removing walls. Our team worked through the structural details carefully so the new layout could feel open while still being properly supported.
A Kitchen Centered Around a Large Island
The kitchen was one of the biggest changes in the home. By opening up the surrounding walls, Kitchens by Good Guys gave the space more breathing room and created a better connection to the dining and living areas.
The large island gives the homeowner plenty of room for seating, prep, and everyday use, while the waterfall-style countertop adds a clean, finished look. The darker island cabinetry brings contrast to the white perimeter cabinets, and details like the built-in microwave, pop-up outlet, pendant lighting, and added storage make the space as practical as it is polished.
Kitchen Details
- Large island with seating
- Waterfall-style countertop
- Built-in microwave
- Pop-up electrical outlet
- White perimeter cabinetry with a darker island
- Pendant lighting
- Stainless steel appliances
- Light wood flooring throughout the main level

A Dedicated Bar Moment
The kitchen bar area gave the homeowner another place for storage, serving, and display. The unique backsplash, decorative glass cabinets, added lighting, and built-in storage make it feel like its own finished space within the kitchen.

Powder Room and Laundry Room Details
Near the garage entry, we reconfigured walls to create a larger powder room with a warm ribbed vanity, LED mirror, and clean, simple palette. In the laundry room, white cabinetry, stacked appliances, added storage, and a green tile backsplash make the space more functional and finished.
The Finished Transformation
By the end of the design-build project, Kitchens by Good Guys had opened up the main level, improved the flow from room to room, and brought the home’s finishes into one cohesive, warm contemporary style.
The kitchen feels more spacious and usable, the bathrooms have a cleaner, more elevated look, and the powder room and laundry room were given the same level of attention as the main living areas. The details work together quietly: a better layout, smarter storage, improved lighting, and a home that works better day to day.
